C.B. Eder: Senior Pastor

C.B. and his wife Shannon

Jesus transformed C.B.'s life in his senior year of high school. Though a Christian in name, raised to love the Lord by his parents, his lifestyle as a young man was one of pursuing worldly dreams and sin until Jesus came and changed his heart. God by His grace opened up C.B.'s eyes to the futility and temporariness of worldly pursuits in contrast to the most glorious and vital cause in the universe, the gospel's advance.

C.B.'s story is one of God's faithfulness and patience. It is a story of God's grace, not a story of a man's accomplishments. During college, he became a member of Covenant Fellowship Church (a part of Sovereign Grace Ministries). There God gave him a passion for the cross of Jesus Christ and for His church.

C.B. graduated with a secondary education biology degree from West Chester University. In 1997, Covenant Fellowship Church sent C.B. to the Sovereign Grace Ministries Pastors College. After the Pastors College, he served as a pastoral intern for youth and evangelism at Sovereign Grace Church of Cherry Hill, NJ. During the internship, C.B. had a growing desire to plant a church. This desire was examined and evaluated by the pastor he served with and the leadership team of Sovereign Grace Ministries. After much prayer, they believed God wanted to plant a Sovereign Grace Ministries church in the Reading area. So C.B., his family and a team of 11 adults and 8 children relocated to the Reading area in 2001. C.B. and his wife Shannon have three sweet daughters- Ashlyn, Verity & Evelyn and one son- Blair.

Ben Ross: Pastor in Training

Ben and his wife Kelly

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Ben was blessed with a family that was faithful to teach him that he is a sinner and that Jesus Christ went to the cross to take the punishment he deserved. Ben had felt a call to ministry since he was young and, because of this, attended Grove City College where he earned a degree in Christian Thought. In 2003, after a year of marriage, Ben and his wonderful wife Kelly, were headed to Philadelphia so Ben could attend seminary. God, however, had other plans. While they were in Reading for the summer, they began to attend CCC and were affected by the gospel-centered, biblical preaching from CB and the example and fellowship they received from members of the church. Ben and Kelly, for the first time, realized what sinners they truly were and how amazing it was that Jesus would die on their behalf. After a season of prayer and counsel Ben believed God was calling them to stay in Reading and become members of the church.

In the four years that followed, Ben’s sense of an internal call to ministry only continued to grow. It was confirmed through the evaluation of C.B. and other leaders. Ben graduated from the Sovereign Grace Pastor’s College in 2008. He serves the Crossfire Parent/Youth group, the children’s ministry and oversees CCC's evangelism. Ben and Kelly are the blessed parents of Madelyn, Anderson Jay, and Selah.

Sovereign Grace Leadership Team

The spread of the gospel detailed for us in the New Testament focuses on churches being planted and then continually cared for by both a local leadership team and extra-local care. The Apostles planted churches and then raised up local men to lead that church. The Apostles then moved on to plant more churches, while at the same time they continued to care for the churches they had already planted.

At Christ Community Church, we know the joy, protection, and ongoing accountability this biblical model of local and extra-local leadership provides. Along with the local leadership we have, Christ Community Church also receives extra-local oversight from the leadership team of Sovereign Grace Ministries. In particular, Dave Harvey serves our pastor and local church. We thank God for these men. They are a gift from God to us (Eph. 4:11). For more information on these men, please click here.
